MASTERCLASS – TRAUMA - 2 days workshop for professionals (supervisors or therapists)
Trauma radically alters our relationships - with the world around us, with others, with ourselves and with our bodies. In this workshop which draws from her book Trauma Therapy and Clinical Practice, Miriam Taylor will share some cutting edge thinking, contextualising trauma in the network of relationships that shape our lives. She will demonstrate ways of working in deeply attuned, embodied and non-pathologising ways, and you will have an opportunity to put some skills into practice in small groups. The work will build on the neuroscience of trauma and consider the implications for therapeutic interventions. This workshop is suitable for experienced therapists and supervisors.
The workshop will include personal work, case consultation, supervision, working with dissociation, complex trauma and shame. Setting trauma as a field phenomenon is important and we will look at power, oppression and vulnerability in the world and in the consulting room. Developing skills of deep embodied listening will be part of the frama, a well as increasing capacity to bear the intolerable.
LEADER: Miriam Taylor is a UKCP registered Gestalt psychotherapist (non-clinical), supervisor and trainer. Having retired from clinical practice in which she specialised in trauma for over twenty five years, Miriam now focuses on aspects of collective trauma, social justice issues and climate change. Based in embodied practice, her interest is in the formation of the traumatised relational field, leading to an ecological perspective. She teaches in the UK and internationally, and is on the Leadership Team of Relational Change. Publications include ‘Trauma Therapy and Clinical Practice’ (2014); ‘Deepening Trauma Practice’ (2021), and several peer reviewed and invited articles.
